PLAY OUTSIDE
other brief i’ve been working on this term
replacement signs for ‘no ball game’ signs to convince children to go outside instead of sitting inside all day
made these signs with a QR code on them which when scanned would (if i knew how to actually make it instead of just designing it) link to an app. the app is kind of a new social media thing but it lets the kids put in how long they played outside for and compare their results with their friends’…
made a couple of fold out leaflet/posters
other side has information about the product and folds out into this
yeahhhhh buddy
(shitty screen shots because talktalk internet can’t handle real files)
making a beautiful rainbow of gimps
after a nice chat with denise wilton from berg, we’re looking at different ways of showing the gimp thing without there being too much gimp
spent a very long time making little card things with gimp eye holes to put over the camera lens
cool photos but they don’t really have much to do with social media…
really cool lecture from emma thomas from a practice for everyday life
cody hudson, stuggle inc.
got to do a nice bit of lino to make the logo for our gimp brand.
the shapes are based on a logo we found for some company called ‘interface’. we were thinking of calling our brand that too but we think it’s a bit too serious for what we’re doing. however, the colourful shapes now represent the different personas that you have online because everyone’s a bit fake online.
gimpin’
the last photos are my favourites. the old lady loved it. cheeky.
Our brief from Craig Oldham: “Convince people that social media isn’t really social.”
Pretty standard brief. Thanks Craig.
It is a lot harder than you think though.
After a lot of discussion and a lot of discarded ideas, we have come up with gimp masks. When you’re on facebook or whatever, it’s like you’ve got blinkers on and you’re not paying attention to anything else. Or even more extreme than blinkers, something that stops you from talking/engaging in real converstions, a gimp mask.
So here we are. Buying gimp masks.
My course is mental.
